PROJECT
The Jordan Hydroponic Agriculture and Employment Development (HAED-Jo) project is a 5-year development project supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. Key areas include: advancing Jordan's horticulture value chain through the adoption of innovative hydroponic techniques, improved post-harvest management, minimizing water usage, improving food security, building resilience, market chain improvement and creating job opportunities for Jordanians and Syrian refugees. HAED-Jo developed a strategic communication and outreach plan that focuses on promoting hydroponic systems, stimulating behavioral change and increasing awareness through targeted messages. This means encouraging growers to adopt appropriate technologies suitable for the Jordanian context, attracting consumers' interest to buy hydroponic produce and involving community groups to create livelihood opportunities along the improved agricultural value chain, as well as building partnerships with different educational and non-governmental institutions to expand outreach and ensure that knowledge and information that result from the project activities is accessible beyond the duration of the project.
