The purpose of this law is to define the legal rules relating to the protection of plants, and in particular those relating to: (a) the phytosanitary protection of the national territory; (b) phytosanitary control at import and export; (c) monitoring the distribution and use of plant protection products in the fight against organisms harmful to plants and plant products. A consultative body known as the “Plant Protection Advisory Council” is set up under the Minister responsible for agriculture, made up of representatives of the administrations concerned and, where applicable, those of the professional bodies concerned.
