Research and food security: The Nigella Sativa option

Nigella Sativa was very little known in Albania until Jonida Biturku, a PhD candidate from the Agriculture Department of Tirana University, started to test 30 different varieties of this medicinal plant to find the best one for the Albanian soil. The potential benefits of this research are huge in terms of health, sustainability, and income for farmers. That’s why Jonida received the first FEED award in Bari last March.
